Mid Norfolk Mencap is a voluntary organisation operating in the Mid, North and South Norfolk areas, supporting individuals with a learning disability and their families.
The purpose of our services is to support and enable the individuals to lead fulfilling lives, to be involved in their local community and to have access to the same opportunities as all members of our society.
Our aim is to empower individuals to make informed choices and to encourage them to take responsibility for the choices they make, supporting them when they are confronted with difficulties and building upon their life experiences.

We are transforming an office room into a sensory room which will open up new experiences to people with learning disabilities, and can be used in so many different ways - calming, exploring, relief from pain, communication skills, social interaction, independence, safety and security. The room will consist of state of the art sensory equipment designed to stimulate the senses through sound, touch, smell, and sight. The room is needed to help provide a service to those who are having the wellbeing element of their personal budget cut, and therefore are at risk of isolation and depression. It will benefit the wider community by being situated in a central town of Norfolk which is easy to access and has brilliant bus routes.
The room itself would be of benefit to other vulnerable groups in the community - children, older people, those with physical disabilities, mental health sufferers, and anyone suffering long term illnesses or dementia.
